Chicago-born Donald Pliner grew up learning the shoe business through his father’s own Florsheim shoe store. No surprise, then, when, still in his twenties, he enjoyed his first huge successes as a high-fashion shoe retailer within the exaltedly trendy precincts of Beverly Hills, California. In 1984, he designed and marketed the acclaimed Glacee collection for Intershoe. He continued to create fashionable shoes for others before finally launching his own women’s shoe brand in 1989. From the beginning, every pair of footwear from Donald J Pliner has always expressed the company founder’s dedication to helping his customers “live the luxury of comfortable fashion.”
