Joan & David were started in 1977 by Joan and David Helpern. At the time, Joan was working on a Ph.D. at Harvard University, and designed the kind of footwear that smart and stylish women like herself would be happy to wear. That mission propelled Joan & David into an award-winning, internationally recognized fashion brand.
