AVIA makes both men’s and women’s athletic shoes specifically dedicated to high-performance running, walking, aerobics and step training, basketball, cross training, triathlons, and aqua training and water sports. The company designs and offers a wide range of shoes that serve a serious athlete’s needs when training or competing. The secret to the success of AVIA shoes may be found in the patented Cantilever® technology, which aims to enhance the performance and comfort of all runners and types of foot through cushioning for stability and shock absorption and a design that, in the company’s own words, “delivers maximum energy back into the runner’s stride.”

The AVIA brand had its start in Oregon in 1979, taking its name from the Latin word meaning “to fly.” During the 1980s, the shoes gained fame when they were worn by such National Basketball Association stars as Clyde Drexler, John Stockton, and Scottie Pippen. Now owned by the American Sporting Goods Company and based in Southern California, AVIA continues to put wings on the feet of the athletes who wear them.
