Shoe Metro Opening First Retail Store to Serve Local Customers

SAN DIEGO, CA -- September 30, 2009 – Online retailer Shoe Metro, which operates the Internet site, www.shoemetro.com, announced today plans to open their first retail store location. It will be a milestone for the retailer, which has been selling shoes online since 2004. Soon, local customers wanting hands-on service and more personal communication will be able to receive that extra care. The store's grand opening will take place on the weekend of October 2-4 in San Diego, where the company resides.

"The retail store will not only diversify our sales channels," said David Duong, president of Shoe Metro. "It will also serve our local customers better. Some of our customers have wanted to do local pick-ups and returns and, in general, they have sought more attention to their needs. This gives us a way to be more intimate with them."

Shoe Metro's commitment to customers' needs means maximizing convenience. The retail store inventory connects directly to the Shoe Metro warehouse so customers will be able to personally sample any of the 90,000+ pairs of shoes in stock, including athletic shoes, casual shoes, dress shoes, heels/pumps, sandals, boots, and more. Computer kiosks with a simplified, user-friendly search program will allow customers to pinpoint the exact shoes they desire. Shoe Metro staff will be waiting on-hand to retrieve those items from the warehouse and return them to the customers. And as they wait on the customers, staff will offer their expert advice such as finding heels that won’t hurt the customers’ feet, current hot styles from brands like Anne Klein, and how to care for running shoes properly.

The store's grand opening weekend (Oct. 2-4) coincides with the MCAS Miramar Air Show at the nearby military station. Sign spinners will be strategically placed to notify incoming traffic about the store's opening. As extra incentive to entice customers to come out, Shoe Metro offers a printable coupon on its website for 20% off each customer's purchase. Shoe Metro will also host a free BBQ on Saturday, October 3 with plans to hand out free giveaways to attendees.
